SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – The Sussex County Department of Health did not issue any updated coronavirus patient information on Sunday.  They did release a statement that said they are “tracking down needed kits and gear to all for greater testing within the county.”

Congressman Josh Gottheimer also released a statement on the topic of local testing.  He announced he sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA Administrator Peter Gaynor, requesting he “establish an additional drive through COVID-19 testing site to serve the residents of Warren and Sussex County.”

The New Jersey Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard reports Sussex County has 267 positive cases of COVID-19 and nine deaths.  Yesterday the report from the SCDOH said there were 230 cases in Sussex County indicating there were about 37 new cases.

It should be noted, the NJDOH Dashboard numbers are not always exactly the same as the SCDOH reports each day.

Testing for coronavirus is still not available in Sussex County.  Anyone who is concerned they may have symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to contact their doctor.  The closest FEMA testing center at the Bergen Community College campus requires a prescription to be tested.

The New Jersey COVID-19 dashboard reports as of April 4, there have been 34,124 positive tests, 41,232 negative tests and 846 deaths, related to coronavirus. Bergen County continues to have the most patients with 6,187 and 189 deaths, Essex County has 4,082 patients with 172 deaths. 

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 337,274 confirmed cases with 17,449 recovered patients and 9,634 coronavirus deaths.  New York City has reported 2,472 COVID-19 related deaths.
