NEWTON, NJ—With the end of Newton school district's spring break came an announcement that the school would remain closed even longer.

Before spring break commenced, the superintendent and board of education announced they would be closed until April 30, in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education and the governor's executive orders.  Governon Murphy announced earlier this week the schools would remain closed at least through May 15.

Phone messages went out from the school’s automated system announcing the extension of the school closure Friday morning.
