NEWTON, NJ – The students of the Halsted Art Club are spreading smiles in the community.  By creating Kindness Rocks they are joining a nationwide initiative to bring fun and joy to Newton, according to art teacher Laura Evans.

The students paint rocks and inscribe them with a positive message.  The Kindness Rocks are then distributed or hidden around the community, waiting to be found, not unlike an Easter Egg Hunt.

People who find the rocks are asked to continue the kindness by taking a photo and posting to Twitter: #HalstedPride
facebook: Halsted Middle School and  Sussex County NJ Rocks facebook page before hiding it again for someone else to fine, allowing the smiles to spread.
