SPARTA, NJ – The coronavirus crisis is bringing out the best in people.  As communities navigate unimagined challenges, a pair of Sparta High School students are doing what they can to help.

Bhavika Dawar and Jamie Rubin have organized a GoFundMe page “Feeding Sussex County COVID-19” for the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry, with the support of Ms. Valerie from the organization.

“They are short on supplies with the current crisis and we really hope we can make a difference,” Dawar said.

The girls have raised $986 so far, with donations from 32 people. They will purchase the food with the funds and deliver to the food pantry once a week.  They decided it would be better to support the food pantry in this way, rather than have people go to the store to buy food to donate.

The pantry is located in the First Presbyterian Church at 32 Main Street.  It is open:

  • Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday 9 a.m. to noon and
  • Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
