NEWTON, NJ –Newton town officials have announced the Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled aerial application of mosquito larvicide July 14 through 18 between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The applications will be made to uninhabited wetland areas in the Town of Newton, Vernon, Wantage, Hardyston, Sussex, Hopatcong, Hampton, Lafayette and Andover.

According to the announcement, no applications will be made over residential neighborhoods.  Residents may see a plane overflying but that is the pilot positioning the plane to approach wetlands that will be treated.
