Rehab, primary care and lab services find home in $1.3 million renovated space
BYRAM TWP., NJ – NOVEMBER 4, 2019 – Atlantic Health System this week opened a trio of much-needed services – primary care, rehab and laboratory – together in a prime retail location conveniently accessible to township residents as well as commuters travelling between Sussex and Morris counties.
The three services exist in an adjoining space in the Shop-Rite commercial plaza, on Route 206 North, a heavily-travelled corridor leading into Sussex County from Morris County.
The space housing the new services was converted from a prior retail tenant over a period of 15 weeks starting in July. Atlantic Health System designed the renovations in-house, with Lanesville Group LLC providing construction. Construction for the new space cost $1.3 million, with an additional $340,000 in technology, equipment and furnishing.
Marking the services’ opening week, Byram Township Mayor Alex Rubenstein took the occasion to protect both his health and the health of others, by getting his annual flu shot at Atlantic Medical Group Primary Care at Byram. He was joined by his wife, Jeannine, who also got her flu shot.
“I am pleased to see Atlantic Health System opening a location in Byram,” Mayor Rubenstein said. “The ability for residents to have access to primary care, laboratory and rehab services is a great thing to have right in the center of our town. I am glad to see the investment that Atlantic Health has made here.”
The primary care practice currently employs two physicians (with potential for five), as well as six other team members. The rehabilitation service is anticipated to ultimately have 4-5 therapists with 2-3 administrative/support team members. The lab service is staffed by a phlebotomist.
“Expanding patients’ access to needed services like these is a vital part of our overall efforts to build healthier communities,” said Paul Marmora, vice president, ambulatory care for Atlantic Health System. “We are excited to make access to high quality care more convenient for Byram and the surrounding communities.”
Atlantic Medical Group Primary Care at Byram offers expert care provided by board-certified family physicians John C. Murphy, MD, and Noha A. Eltaki, M.D. As part of Atlantic Medical Group, Primary Care at Byram is connected to a network of more than 1,000 health care providers, including specialists, throughout northern and central New Jersey.
Dr. Murphy comes to Byram from AMG’s Hackettstown Family Medicine, providing expert hands-on patient care for adults and children. He is board certified in family medicine and received his training at UMDNJ Rutgers University. Prior to Atlantic Medical Group, Dr. Murphy diagnosed, treated, managed and coordinated care for patients with acute and chronic conditions at Astrahealth Center in Bayonne.
For the last year prior to coming to Atlantic Health System, Dr. Eltaki was chief resident at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and Hudson River Health Care Kraus Family Health Center.
Dr. Eltaki’s activities outside of medicine have focused on improving the health and lives of children, including volunteering in children’s relief overseas, acting as a camp counselor for children and adults with developmental disabilities and providing medical aid to runners at 5K events.
Demonstrating her commitment to connecting directly with the community, Dr. Eltaki recently joined Mayor Rubenstein’s weekly walk through Byram on Nov. 3.
Atlantic Rehabilitation at Byram will provide orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation services for a variety of conditions, including pre- and post-operative total joint replacement, rotator cuff repairs, ACL repairs, knee and ankle injuries and back and neck pain. The location will offer evaluations within 24 to 48 hours and convenient follow up appointments.
The rehabilitation services will be led by Michael Mastaj, PT, DPT, OCS, orthopedic clinical specialist, who is certified in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), the Graston Technique, and RockTape.
The lab will provide a convenient location where patients can get blood and specimens taken, whether it be as part of their primary care visit, employer-mandated testing, or other needs.
