NEWTON, NJ – A fight over a woman in the County Park ended with a man in the hospital.  On September 30 around 7:17 p.m. Douglass Hill, 23 and Jonathan Figueroa, 24 each ended up with charges after police responded to the fight, police said.

Hill of Sparta was cut in the left cheek by Newton resident Figueroa.  Police said Hill instigated the fight but Fugueroa cut Hill with a pocket knife, police said.

Hill was brought to Newton Medical Center by Newton First Aid Squad.  According to police Hill needed three stiches to close the wound.

Police said the two were fighting “over their relationship with a female acquaintance.”

Hill received a disorderly conduct charge, for starting it.  Figueroa was charged with possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.  The two were given a court date.
