NEWTON, NJ—A Newton woman was hit by a car while crossing Mill Street. Isabel Chub, 35, refused medical treatment after being hit by Francis Jennings, 62 on Monday, October 15 according to police.

The officers responded to the intersection of Mill Street and Water Street to find Jennings of Sparrow Bush, New York had stopped at the red traffic light in his 2003 Hummer.  According to police Jennings did not see Chub as she was walking in the crosswalk.

Chub complained of pain in her left leg and right buttocks region but did not want treatment, police said.

Jennings was ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and careless driving.

Newton Police Department officers involved included Ptl. Jose Morales, Sgt. Scott King, Ptl. Scott Vertetis and Ptl. Kenneth Teets. Newton First Aid Squad also responded to the scene.
