NEWTON, NJ—A New York resident is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop. On Thursday, July 25 around 11:25 p.m. Ptl. John Flanagan was conducting traffic enforcement when he saw Rakeen Cabassa, 23, speeding south on Water Street in a 2016 Chrysler, police said.
Flanagan searched the car and found the Middletown, New York resident had marijuana and “Raw” brand rolling papers, according to police. Police also found Cabassa also had an warrant out of Washington Township.
Cabassa was charged with the possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and speeding, police said.
Cabassa was processed and released on his own recognizance pending an August 13, 2019 appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
