NEWTON, NJ—Two men are facing charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of Sparta and Diller Avenues. On July 1 around 9:24 a.m. Sgt. Michael Monaco and Ptl. Steven Shawger stopped Jeffrey Gallo, 49 because the trailer he was pulling did not have a license plate and his truck did not have an inspection sticker, police said.
The officers found marijuana in the car and took Gallo into custody. The officers also found the passenger, Francis Smith, 47 of Port Jervis, New York had a warrant out of Jefferson Township.
Smith was taken into custody and then turned over to Jefferson Police Department. Gallo was released pending an upcoming court appearance.
