NEWTON, NJ—No one was injured in car accident that left one driver with multiple charges.. On Saturday, July 20 around 10:36 p.m. Newton Police responded to car accident at the intersection of Trinity and Moran Street, police said.

When police got to the scene of the accident they found a 2000 Ford Focus had been hit by a 2016 white BMW.  Newton resident Tammy Hyatt, 56 hit Megan Sheplak, also of Newton, who was stopped at a red light on Moran Street.  Hyatt was turning right onto Moran Street from Trinity Street when she hit Sheplak, police reported.

Hyatt was taken into custody and charged with DWI, careless driving and failure to keep right.

She was processed and released with a court date of July 30, 2019.
