SPARTA, NJ – A Fairlawn man tried to hid his identity because when he was questioned by police.  On July 7 Officer Matt Pletcher responded to a report of an intoxicated person in a local business’ parking lot, police said.

Pletcher found Michael Soriano, 26 was under the influence of narcotics.  Soriano initially told Pletcher his name was “Michael J McKay,” police said.

Soriano was in taken into custody for hindering his apprehension by giving a false name.  When he was searched Soriano had full and empty packets of heroin and a cut straw, police said.

Soriano was brought to Sparta Police Department to be processed.  He was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing a false name to a law enforcement officer, police said.

He was given a court date and releases.
