NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Braves won 85-50 over Mount Olive on Friday, when Newton hosted them.

Fantasia put up nine 2-pointers, seven 3-pointers and three foul shots for a total of 42 points to secure the lead for Newton. Brian McKeown contributed 17 points to the board, putting up one 2-pointer and five 3-pointers.

Jack Young had a strong game, putting up four 2-pointers and three free throws to add another 11 points to the score. Donovan Thomas added nine points and JD Heller added another six.

The Newton High School boys basketball team moved their overall record to 16-9 and their NJAC division record to 14-6.

The Braves will begin the first round of the NJSIAA sectional tournament, in the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 2 as the seven-seeded team.

Newton will host 10-seeded Morris Tech on Tuesday, March 3 with a 7 p.m. tip-off to start the tournament.
