NEWTON, NJ—Maddie Gore, a junior at Newton High School, joined the 1,000-point club during the game on Tuesday against Columbia. She is the first Newton junior in over 40 years to join the ranks.

Gore scored 25 points in the game against Columbia, along with having two steals and eight rebounds. Jessie Brannick and Olivia Buckley each scored eight points.

Amy Fehr, Caroline Fox and Taylor Squiera all contributed to the win. Fehr grabbed seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

The Braves moved their overall record to 17-8 and their NJAC division record to 13-5. They will begin the 2020 NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 2 tournament as the fifth-seeded team. They will host 12-seeded Hawthorne on Tuesday, March 3 in a night game beginning at 7 p.m.
