NEWTON, NJ—The Newton stands were filled with red, while the Lenape Valley stands were filled with white. Each team wore the others’ color in remembrance of fellow classmates Thomas “Tommy” “Chip” McKenna and Alexis Faye.

Lenape Valley lost McKenna in June after suffering kidney failure following a recent diagnosis of a rare autoimmune disorder. Newton lost Faye in May after she passed away from injuries sustained in a one-car accident in Fredon.

Lenape Valley shut out Newton 28-0. Throughout the game, Newton’s players Julian Sibblies rushed 20 yards, Takeo Sibblies rushed 32 yards and Jack Young rushed 54 yards.
