NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team won 70-61 in overtime on Wednesday, when they hosted their rivals, the Kittatinny Cougars.
Both teams came out strong in the first half, with the cougars taking the lead by four points going into halftime. Newton came out in the second half, tying the score up at 55 to push the game into overtime.
The Braves came out victorious in the end, after they scored 15 points to the Cougars’ six in the fifth period of the game.
The lead scorer of the game was Brian McKeown, who put up two 2-pointers, eight 3-pointers and four foul shots for a total of 32 points.
Aaron Fantasia put up 19 points to help the Braves in their victory. He made seven 2-pointers, one 3-pointer and two foul shots.
JD Heller contributed seven points, Dylan Bailey contributed six, Donovan Thomas added another five points.
The Newton High School boys basketball team moved their overall record to 12-4 and their NJAC division record to 10-2.
