NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team's season has come to a disappointing end with a loss to second seed Pascack Hills on Thursday.  The seventh seed Braves lost 46-66 in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA tournament. The Cowboys shut the Braves down right from the beginning with a score of 21-8 in the first quarter.

Newton came out of the half ready to play putting up 20 points in the third and 14 in the final but could not overcome the first half. Much of the game was shouldered by Brian McKeown who put up 20 points.

Arron Fantasia and Donovan Thomas each added seven.  JD Heller, Jack Young and Dylan Bailey added to the total.  They Braves put together a 17-10 season.

Junior Fantasia put up 506 points this season.

Junior McKeown had 323 points this season.

JD Heller finished his high school career with 241 points.

Junior Dylan Bailey had 153 points this season.

Junior Donovan Thomas had 150 points this season.

Sophomore Jack Young had 125 points this season.

On Tuesday, the Braves defeated Morris Tech in the first round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 2 tournament.

Newton, the seven-seeded team won against 12-seeded Morris Tech 57-48 to move on to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.

Fantasia was the top-scorer with 17 points, putting up five 2-pointers, two 3-pointers and one foul shot. Heller contributed to the victory putting up four 2-pointers, one 3-pointer and two free throws for a total of 13 points.

McKeown and Thomas each contributed nine points. Jack Young put up five points and freshman Pasquale Festa added four points.
