NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys soccer team lost a close game against Hackettstown on Saturday, when they hosted the fifth-seeded team  in the quarterfinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament, losing 1-0.

Newton’s defense played tough and fought back every step of the game, but were unable to come back after Hackettstown scored toward the end of the first half.

There were three yellow cards given to Hackettstown players, along with a few towards the Hackettstown parents, who were asked to leave the premises.

The Braves, who have a regular season record of 9-4-1 and a NJAC record of 9-3, will move on in the regular season to play Hackettstown away on Tuesday, October 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
