NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys soccer team won their home opener against Sparta on Tuesday, 3-1.

Newton scored one goal in the first half of the game and then scored another two goals in the second half to secure their win.

Inmer Caal Coc, Lucas Mezza and Kymani Byrd scored for the Braves with assists from Toby Woolridge and Remy Ivaldi.

Newton took 11 shots on Sparta’s goal, while Sparta only had five shots on Newton’s keeper Jackson Heller. Heller had four saves.

The Newton High School boys soccer team will host Vernon on their turf field on Thursday, September 5, beginning at 4 p.m.
