NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School football team added another win when they took on Madison away on Saturday, in an afternoon game.  The Braves took the win 35-28.

The Braves, currently 7-2 overall took on Madison with a record of 1-7. 

Newton’s quarterback Jack Young put up  211-yards in the air and had 10 carries for another 109 yards.

Aaron Fantasia grabbed four Young passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns.  He also had six carries for 32 yards.  Making an impact on both sides of the ball, Fantasia had seven tackles and an interception.

Peyton Nolan scored a touchdown after a two-yard run.  He had 18 carries for 106 yards.  Young connected with Nolan twice for four yards.  

Newton put up 14 points before Madison got on the board.  Madison had three trips to the endzone before the Braves were able to break through with a 65-yard TD run by Young and get ahead with a 50 yard bomb from Young to Fantasia with a two point finish by Dylan Bailey.

The Newton High School Football team will enter into the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 tournament as the fourth-seed team behind number third-seed Lenape Valley, second-seeded Waldwick and top-seeded Verona.

The tournament will begin on Friday, November 8, with a 7 p.m. kick off. Newton will take on fifth-seeded Glen Rock. Newton will host the team on that Friday.
