NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School field hockey team shut out Hackettstown 3-0 when they hosted them on Newton’s turf field on Wednesday, September 4.

The game remained tied at zero at the halftime horn, but the Braves came back out onto the field and scored all three goals in the second half.

Sidney Pavlishin, Bridget Kerrick, and Julia Decker found the back of the net for the Braves with assists by Erin Fucito, Julia Fitt, and Sammie DeIorio.

Newton outshot Hackettstown 26-9. The Braves’ goal keeper Abby Berkowitz, had nine saves, while Hackettstown’s keeper had 17 against Newton’s shots.

The Newton High School girls’ field hockey team will play their next game home on Saturday, September 7 against Jefferson. The game will begin at noon on Newton’s turf field.
