NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School field hockey team played North Warren and Wallkill Valley this week and shut both teams out.

Newton hosted Wallkill Valley on Tuesday and blanked them 5-0. Leading the Braves in their victory was Julia Fitt and Elissar Abou-Jaoude with two goals apiece, as well as Sydney Pavlishin with one goal.

Julie Decker had two assists, while Bridget Kerrick and Sammie Samiljan each had one assist apiece. The Lady Braves took 24 shots on Wallkill Valley’s goal, while Newton’s Keeper Anny Berkowitz had two saves.

On Monday, Newton played away against North Warren and also shut them out with a final score of 3-0.

Pavlishin, Fitt, and Abou-Jaoude each had one goal apiece, while Fitt also had one assist on the goal.

Newton had 29 shots on North Warren’s goalie, while Berkowitz had a total of six saves on her end.

The Newton High School lady braves move their record to an undefeated status with 4-0 so far this season. They will take on Vernon away on Friday, September 13 beginning at 4 p.m.
