NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls basketball team defeated Morris Tech on Friday, 63-29, when they played them away.

Newton dominated in the first half, scoring 18 points in both the first and second quarters. Going into halftime, Newton was up 36-11. Newton scored another 18 points in the third, finishing up by adding another nine in the last quarter. Morris tech scored 18 points in the second half.

Maddie Gore led with 15 points, followed by Caroline Fox, Olivia Buckley, and Taylor Squiers with 10 points apiece.

Jessie Brannick scored nine points, Amy Fehr put up six and Kassondra Van Houten added three points.  Defensively, Gore had 10 rebounds, while Fox and Squiers each had eight.

The Braves had 41 rebounds, 23 assists, 20 blocks, and 32 steals throughout the game.

The Braves will participate in the Spartan Holiday Tournament against Warren Hills on Friday, December 27.
