NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Girls Basketball team played Friday and Saturday this weekend, taking both as wins.

On Saturday, the Braves took on West Morris on the road and won 60-51. Defensively, Newton had 23 rebounds, 12 steals and four blocks, along with 20 assists offensively.

Madeline Gore led with 20 points, followed by Olivia Buckley with 16 and Amy Fehr with 12. Taylor Squiers contributed six points to the scoreboard, while Jessie Brannick added four.

The Braves also hosted the Cougars on Friday, dominating 63-36. Defensively, Newton had 37 rebounds, 12 steals and five blocks. They also contributed 21 assists offensively.

Fehr and Gore put up 16 points apiece to help the Braves come out on top. Brannick, Buckley and Squiers each added eight points. Fox contributed four points.

The Newton High School girls basketball team moved their overall record to 5-2 so far this season and their NJAC division record to 3-1. The Braves will host Morris Catholic on Monday, January 6 beginning at 7 p.m.
