Leading Scorers Chloe Milanesi and Dylan Cuperus Take Talents to Collegiate Level

SPARTA, N.J.  – Two senior standouts from the Veritas Christian Academy (VCA) basketball program are taking their talents to the collegiate level at Messiah College, located in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Chloe Milanesi (Morristown, NJ), the first 2,000-point scorer in VCA women’s basketball history, and Dylan Cuperus (Branchville, NJ), the 1,500+ point scorer and men’s basketball captain, have both committed to play for Messiah College in the fall.

“It’s been incredible to coach Chloe these last two seasons. She not only is supremely talented, but her Christ-like, servant leadership is what I and her teammates will miss most,” remarked VCA women’s basketball coach, Greg Gaffney. The Veritas men’s coach, Stephon Blair, had nothing but praise for his senior forward. “Dylan plays with a tenacity and drive that every coach wants in a player and there’s no doubt that he will grow both his basketball skillset and Christian testimony as part of Messiah’s program,” said Blair.

Milanesi, who was part of back to back regional championship teams at VCA, will join a Messiah women’s team, led by head coach Mike Miller, who is accustomed to winning ways as the 5th winningest coach in D3 women’s basketball. Messiah finished this past year 25-4 and won their 4th straight NCAA Division 3 MAC Commonwealth championship before advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Championship Tournament.

“I want to thank every coach and teammate that has inspired and motivated me to continue to work harder and harder,” reflected Milanesi. “Truly it has been such a blessing. My heart is overwhelmed by the amount of love and support that has been shown to me.  These last four years have gone so fast. I am beyond excited and feel very blessed to get to continue the next chapter as a student-athlete at Messiah.”

Cuperus, a perennial conference all-star, will help bolster the frontline of Coach Van Pelt’s roster in what will be his 17th year as head coach, and pave the way to their competing for another MAC Commonwealth conference title.

“I am so blessed to have been able to play basketball at VCA the past four years,” remarked Cuperus. “It went by so fast. I want to thank everyone who has helped me in this recruiting process and my parents who came to every single game. I could not be more excited to continue my basketball career at Messiah.”

Veritas Christian Academy, located in Sparta, NJ, is one of the smallest schools by size in the Metro Christian Athletic Conference, but it is also one of the winningest programs in the league year in and year out. While both the women’s and men’s teams will miss the production and leadership of Milanesi and Cuperus, both teams are well positioned for success in 2020 and beyond thanks to the development of young talent by Coach Gaffney and Coach Blair.
