30-Gallon Methanol Spill Closes Route 309 in Montgomery Township Thursday

Route 309 is closed in both directions Thursday morning and afternoon due to a spillage of about 30 gallons of methanol in the parking lot of Suburban Propane at 701 Bethlehem Pike in Montgomery Township.

Bucks County Courier reports that a valve busted on a 1,000-gallon tank as it was being removed from the property.

Neighboring businesses were advised to shelter in place, per reports. The spill happened at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

Route 309 was closed in both directions between Cowpath Road/Route 463 at Five Points and Taylor Road. It reopened around noon Thursday.

Suburban Propane HAZMAT teams were on scene, along with assistance from Montgomery County HAZMAT, Montgomery Township Fire Services and FDMT.
