During the American Revolution, select groups of Colonists of militias fighting against the British were called minutemen, because they were said to be ready at a moment's notice.

Perhaps Fairmount Fire Company's Fire Police members are Lansdale's minutemen -- they were honored last month by Lansdale Council and Lansdale Police. according to The Reporter, for their dedication and readiness at the drop of a hat during events like the Mardi Gras Parade, First Fridays, Founders Day and more. They are also there for the unexpected.

Read more about the honors here. Fairmount Fire Co. is, at present, in the midst of celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
