A Grub Burger Bar is proposing to transfer a liquor license from Mariano’s Tavern in Hatfield Township in order to open up a restaurant at Montgomery Mall in Montgomery Township.
Montgomery Township Supervisors Monday approved a date for a November public hearing to approve or deny the intermunicipal liquor license transfer request.
GBB NE Coast, LLC, a subsidiary of GBB Hospitality Group, LLC, operates seven Grub Burger Bars in three states. If successful, the Grub Burger Bar at Montgomery Mall would be the second one in Pennsylvania. A Grub Burger Bar is poised to open in Willow Grove on North York Road.
According to attorney Mark Kozar, in a letter to Montgomery Township Planning and Zoning Director Bruce Shoupe, no Montgomery Township liquor license is available for purchase at this time, and thus, it has entered into an agreement to purchase a liquor license from Mariano’s Tavern owners Faust and Kathleen Mariano.
Kozar describes Grub Burger Bar as a “family-friendly, relaxed casual” restaurant that offers a variety of hamburgers and cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers and fish burgers, and hand-spun milkshakes.
The nearest licensed establishment is Wegmans.
