A Towamencin man arrested and charged with the daytime burglary of a home in Hatfield Township on Jan. 30 waived all charges at a preliminary hearing to Montgomery County court Thursday in Montgomery Township District Court.

Chad Jon Aafjes, 28, of the 600 block of Conestoga Lane, also had his bail increased from $99,000 to $100,000, at the request of his attorney, Greg Gifford, per The Reporter Online.

The increase is to keep Aafjes in a higher-security area of Montgomery County prison, per reports. Gifford said Aafjes would be "safer" and away from any problems at the prison. Aafjes remains incarcerated at Montgomery County prison in lieu of bail.

Hatfield Township Police charged Aafjes with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property, police said, in connection with the daytime burglary. Police said Aafjes was nabbed for his alleged crime one day after the incident.

On Jan. 30, at 12:11 p.m., Hatfield Township Police was dispatched to a residential burglary in progress on the 1000 block of Peaceful Lane, police said.

A resident heard a noise in the home, and came across a white man in the bedroom, rummaging through a jewelry box, police said.

The robber fled the home and was seen getting into a white Honda car, possibly a Civic, with possible PA registration beginning with "HGK," police said.

The robber was described as in his 40s, with dirty blond hair, stock build, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a blue coat and blue jeans, police said.
