North Wales Fire With 'Hoarding Conditions' Under Investigation

The cause of a Friday night basement fire of a Pennsylvania Avenue home in North Wales Borough remains under investigation, according to North Penn Vol. Fire Company.

According to reports, crews from six area fire departments were on scene for more than four hours.

North Penn Fire Co. was dispatched at 6:40 p.m. for a reported dwelling fire. Fairmount Fire Co. of Lansdale, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, and Upper Gwynedd Fire Department were also dispatched to assist the fire, which had heavy smoke showing from the basement.

Crews found hoarding conditions inside the home, according to North Penn Fire Company's website.

The fire was under control in a half-hour. North Penn Fire Co. ran the first line into the basement to attack the fire.

Wissahickon Fire Company and Towamencin Volunteer Fire Co. were also called to the scene for additional manpower.

East Norriton Fire Department was called in for fire suppression foam. The foam cools the fire and coats fuel to the fire, peventing oxygen from further combusting the blaze.

There were no injuries.
