William H. Shannon Jr., 87, a Harleysville, Lower Salford native who grew up in Sellersville and formerly lived in Lansdale and North Wales, died at his Delaware home Monday, according to his obituary.

Shannon was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a furniture and appliance salesman for Swartley Bros. in Lansdale and for Macy's at Montgomery Mall.

He loved his dogs Waldo and Gitmo.

He is survived by his sons Wayne, of Delaware, Patrick, of Lansdale, William H. Shannon III, of NJ, and Ryan, of New Castle, Delaware; daughter, Karen Shannon Benham, of Maryland; and two great-grandchildren.
