NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Combine fractions with pizza and partners from another class and what have you got? A recipe for fun! Fourth grade mathematicians in Karen Lewis' and Kathy Porter's classes mixed things up in the new year by pairing up with each other to create "Fraction Pizzas" to show-off their creativity and knowledge.

Partners first created their vision of the perfect pizza, which they topped with all of their favorites...pepperoni, sausage, and even mushrooms. How did they do this? With tons of creativity and maybe some pom poms, buttons, yarn, pasta pieces, rubber bands, and anything else they could get their hands on.

Once their pizzas were ready, partners developed their own fraction stories which challenged classmates to apply their problem solving skills to solve the problems. Now, students throughout EE can stop by the pizzas in the front hallway and get a taste of fraction fun!
