Aftermath of Warren Shooting: Funeral Services for Heidi and Frederick Errickson Set, Fundraisers Established

WARREN, NJ – Funeral services for Heidi Lynn Erickson, 45, and, Frederick William Errickson Jr., 55, the brother and sister shot and killed in last Sunday's double murder-suicide, will be held at 10 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard in Watchung. Visitation for both will be conducted Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, family has asked that donations be made to Heidi's  son Gabriel Vallie's scholarship fund,  491 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. 07922 and to Frederick Jr.'s grandson, Dominick Raiti's well-being fund, 716 Pershing Ave,. Middlesex, N.J. 08846.

A former student of Heidi's, Connor Beard, and his family created one for Gabe. "She was a huge and positive influence on my life," said Connor in his description on the GoFundMe page. Heidi was a lifelong resident of Warren who attended Watchung Hills Regional High School and graduated class of 1988. Heidi spent the last 13 years as a para professional at Central School. Her workplace allowed her to engage with children in order to fulfill her nurturing nature.Her love for live music, NASCAR, the Philadelphia Flyers, and only the finest German beer were all small aspects of her greatly magnetic character. She is survived by her son Gabriel Shane Vallie of Warren, predeceased by his father Gabriel Vallie and survived by his paternal Grandma Brenda and John Gauthier of MI. She is also survived by her mother Carol (Brown) Errickson of Point Pleasant Beach; her father Fred Errickson Sr. of Somerset; a brother Charles Errickson of Point Pleasant Beach; two sisters Judy Fanelli and her husband Rich of Glastonbury CT and Kelly Best and her husband Jake of Warren. She is also survived by her extended family and many loving friends. - See more at:

Born in Elizabeth, Fred grew up in Warren until moving to Middlesex 15 years ago. Fred had worked as a facility manager at the County Auto Wreckers in Jersey City, was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed watching sports and spending time with family. He adored his wife, Kimberley, was a protective and caring big brother to four younger siblings, but his true passion in life was spending quality time with his grandson, Dominick. Fred's strength shone through his big smile and his happiness emanated from acts that flowed from his big heart. He is survived by his wife of 15 and a half years Kim (Dontis); two daughters Lauren and Kara Vanderhelm; a grandson Dominick Raiti; his mother Carol (Brown) Errickson of Point Pleasant Beach; his father Fred Errickson Sr. Somerset; a brother Charles Errickson of Point Pleasant Beach; two sisters Judy Fanelli and her husband Rich of Glastonbury CT and Kelly Best and her husband Jake of Warren and three brother in laws Michael and Peter Dontis of Staten Island and Gary Dontis of Florida. He is also survived by his extended family and many loving friends.
