NEW YORK CITY — The fifth annual EQUUS Film Festival will take place Nov. 17-19 in New York City.
Before then, the EQUUS Film Festival gallops into TRYON North Carolina Oct. 27 to 29 with a corral full of EFF equine documentaries, features, and short films.
Bringing a herd of exquisitely decorated theatrical horses along for the event. Featuring Gold Medalist, Yvonne Barteau, her cast (KYB Dressage) and four of the equine stars from Into The Spotlight, a film addressing many of the issues facing horses today.
The EQUUS Film Festival in partnership with the TRYON International Film Festival (TRIFF17), presented by the Polk County Film Initiative, will screen over 20 EFF films throughout the weekend at the Tryon Theater and Tryon Fine Arts Center.
The TRIFF17 will open the film festival weekend with a beautiful procession of horses and riders, each decked out in brilliantly colored costumes. The horses will travel up Depot Street, to Chestnut and on to Melrose Ave in downtown Tryon. At 6 p.m. the horses will arrive at the Tryon Fine Arts Center kicking off an evening of festivities and the screening of their film, Into The Spotlight.
While in Tryon, Barteau and crew will board their horses at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), and provide an exquisite equine theatrical performance at TRYON International Equestrian Center on Saturday evening before the Saturday Night Lights Grand Prix Jumping Event. They will also be doing clinics at Eric Dierks, Renovatio Farm. Proceeds from Barteau’s clinics will go directly to HERD (Helping Equines Regain Dignity) a local non-profit dedicated to raising the awareness about the plight of unwanted horses.
EQUUS Film Festival directors and stars will also be attending the event. Bruce Anderson, star of The Edge – Bruce Anderson Natural Humanship, will be giving “Humanship” clinics in Tryon while he is attending the event. Julianne Neal, director of the new Spotlight Rescue Series, will be conducting several interviews for her upcoming series that will be premiering in New York City in November at the EFF17. Also joining us at the festival will be the director of The Right Horse, Christy Counts, who will be sharing stories about the work that her organization is doing to help the unwanted horse population in this country.
