MIDDLESEX, NJ – A fast moving fire raced through a family home earlier today at a residence located at 417 Union Street. No one was injured in the fire, but the home suffered extensive damage and was deemed uninhabitable.

Middlesex Police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 9:30am and observed fire and smoke pouring out of the three story home. In addition to the Middlesex Fire department, fire units from Piscataway Township, Bound Brook, Franklin Township and Green Brook Township all assisted the Middlesex Fire Department in fighting the two alarm fire.

The fire was reported contained and under control at 11:30am. Route 28 and some of the surrounding roads were closed for a period of time during the day. The Middlesex Rescue Squad and the Middlesex Office of Emergency Management were both on scene during operations. The fire is under investigation and the cause has not yet been determined.
