FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Police are seeking the public's help in locating a man who drove away from them following an attempted motor vehicle stop, according to a news release.

Saul Weaver III, 48, of Hampton has been charged with second degree eluding and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force along with Franklin Township Police detectives say Weaver was involved in a suspected narcotic transaction on Tuesday in the area of Hamilton Street, according to Robertson.

"Detectives attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop of Weaver’s vehicle utilizing their emergency lights and sirens," Robertson said in a statement. "Weaver failed to yield to authorities and continued to operate the motor vehicle by fleeing from the police in an attempt to avoid apprehension."

Police stopped their chase on Franklin Boulevard, and Weaver was last seen traveling towards Landing Lane.

"Weaver was positively identified by detectives through his vehicle registration and photo driver’s license," Robertson said.
