HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Operation Secure Shred, sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders - the first of several free paper shredding events to be held through October - begins on Saturday, April 15 at the Somerset County Public Works Garage, 410 Roycefield Road, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Operation Secure Shred began in 2007 and is offered throughout the county in various locations from April until October. The intention of the program is to offer residents a safe and easy way to dispose of bulk personal information.
In collaboration with the Somerset County Consumer Protection Office and the County’s Records Management Office, documents will be commercially shredded safely, privately and properly by trained, licensed and bonded document-destruction specialists.
"Shred-it events, such as these, provide our residents with the occasion to safely and properly dispose of personal documents, while protecting against identity theft," said Mayor Carl Suraci.
The complete 2017 Shred It schedule, along with other resources is available on the Somerset County website at http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/how-do-i/learn-about-free-document-shredding.
Additional information, including a brochure on how to handle your personal documents and a recommended schedule of items to be considered for shredding can also be found there.
