GREEN BROOK, NJ – The Green Brook Fishing Derby will return to the township on Saturday, April 22. Sponsored by Green Brook Local PBA 398, the free event will take place at the pond behind the Green Brook firehouse from 9 to 11 a.m. (rain or shine) and is open to anyone 14 years of age and younger.
For the derby, the pond will stocked with over 150 trout. Participants need to bring their own fishing gear, including poles, and bait. There will also be giveaways and refreshments.
Held for many years and then stopped, the fishing derby returned to the township in 2016. “The Fishing Derby was brought back due to its popularity with the community,” said Officer Rigoberto Gonzalez, president of Green Brook Local PBA 398.
“Since my arrival at this department in 2014, the Fishing Derby has been one of the most popular PBA functions, along with the Breakfast with Santa, Turkey Trot and Senior Picnic. It is a fun event that we look forward to each year.”
