NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Borough of North Plainfield will begin completing improvements and repairs to SCLSNJ’s North Plainfield Memorial Library branch beginning on November 16 and spanning throughout the beginning of 2018.
The branch will remain open during most of construction.
Improvements will include replacing the lighting on the main level reading room and replacing ceiling tiles. In addition, long-standing repair needs throughout the building will be evaluated and corrected.
“We look forward to the improvements the borough of North Plainfield is working on at the branch. I know these repairs will be beneficial to all of our patrons,” said East Area Manager Lauren Ryan.
“SCLSNJ’s North Plainfield Memorial Library branch is a well-used and valuable resource for the community,” said Branch Manager Christal Blue. “We are working to make the space more accessible to the community and to reflect the changes in how patrons search for and use information. Future plans include adding more seating, increasing the number of electrical outlets, and making our collection easier to browse.”
Parts of the the library’s adult and young adult collections will be inaccessible at times throughout the process. However, patrons will be able to access the Library System’s robust collections by placing a hold on desired materials at SCLSNJ.org. The catalog can be accessed at home, via the System’s mobile app, or by visiting the branch and requesting assistance from Library staff.
