Cedar Brook’s Huntington ’s Disease Unit brings comfort and peace of mind to both resident’s and caregivers. The only specialized unit in the state, it is also one of only six centers in the country. Cedar Brook provides care uniquely tailored to the needs of individuals with Huntington’s disease, a genetic disorder that causes uncontrollable movements and the slow loss of physical control and thought processing. Huntington’s residents require very specific care and assistance with tasks of daily living. The Cedar Brook staff are trained, equipped, and experienced in the disease process. .
Cedar Brook’s specially trained health care team includes a board-certified medical director, consulting neurologists, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, registered nurses, a social worker and a registered dietitian, as well as speech, hearing, physical, occupational, and recreation therapists.
