NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- Another battle brewed as North Plainfield Jr. Canucks Varsity Red (4-0) took the field against Somerville-Branchburg (SB) United Varsity White. The power running game of RB Brian Benson led the first scoring drive of the game. RB Naji Campbell added another touchdown in the 1st half to keep the Jr. Canucks Varsity Red ahead 12-7 at halftime.

Jr. Canuck’s Al-Nasir Robinson surprised SB United with a kickoff return at the start of the 3rd quarter. It was his second kickoff return in two consecutive weeks. SB United’s offense began to move the ball steadily as they were able to score another touchdown in the 2nd half. It was the Jr. Canucks defense that then stopped any additional Somerville-Branchburg drives when Jaheim Roberts intercepted a SB United’s pass and ran it back for the game’s final score. Jr. Canucks Varsity Red win 26-13.

North Plainfield Jr. Canucks JV Red’s (4-0) offense prepared to make a first impression quickly on (Basking) Ridge JV White when QB Jared Gardner dialed up an over the top touchdown pass to Amiyn Hanks on the first play of the game. A strong offensive performance allowed RB Amiyn Hanks to amass another two touchdowns for a total of three TDs on the day. Tim Godwin also added another touchdown run. Ridge JV White’s offense manage a positive drive inside the Jr Canuck’s 10 yard line as they threatened to be the first team this year to score on Jr. Canucks JV’s defense. However, it was the Jr. Canuck’s battle-tested defense that won the showdown in the end. Jr. Canucks JV Red declared a 26-0 shutout.
