Dear Watchung Homeowner,
The Borough is offering 0% interest home improvement loans of up to $25,000 to income-eligible Borough homeowners.  These loans are interest free and are paid back only when you sell your home.  We currently have funding for 3 more Borough homeowners to receive such a loan.  The Watchung Housing Rehabilitation Program is part of the Borough's overall State-mandated affordable housing effort.

Please visit the Borough’s website at www.watchungnj.gov  to see the preliminary application form for the Watchung Housing Rehabilitation Program.

If you would like to receive such a 0% loan, you must fill out this preliminary application form and return it to the Borough in order to begin the process.  Applications will be processed in the order they are received.

Local contractors interested in working in the program should also contact Mr. Weinberg, the Program Coordinator, at the number listed.

Should you qualify, based on your gross family income, the Watchung Housing Rehabilitation Program will provide you with up to $25,000 for improvements to your home in the form of an interest-free loan that is not paid back till you sell your house.

Eligible improvements include the repair or replacement of your roof, heating system, plumbing, windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, electrical system, porches, insulation and storm doors as well as other basic items.  The Program loans can only be used for specific eligible activities.  Again, contact Mr. Weinberg about which specific home repairs are eligible and which are not.

For assistance completing this preliminary application form or information about the eligibility of the home repairs you need, please call Steven J. Weinberg, the Borough’s Program Coordinator, at 732-390-4745 or email him at steve.weinberg@mac.com.

If you are not interested or do not qualify for the program, perhaps you know a Borough homeowner who is not on this mailing list who might be interested.  If so, please feel free to forward this information to them.
