SOMERVILLE, NJ – New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, a candidate in the Republican gubernatorial Primary June 6, has scheduled a discussion with the Somerset County Employers Legislative Committee on Friday, April 28, at 11:30 a.m. at Verve Bistro, Bar, & Lounge, 18 East Main St.

The April meeting continues a monthly series presented in collaboration with the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP) and the Somerset County Governing Official Association (SCGOA). The three business advocacy groups have joined to provide an even stronger voice for the Somerset County by working together on a strategically planned speaker program to represent and advocate on behalf of the business community.

“The new collaboration is having a significant impact in Trenton, showing legislators and staff that Somerset County business means business,“ said John Anderson of JCP&L, co-chair of Somerset ELC. “We welcome the Lt. Governor and look forward to hearing her ideas for New Jersey if elected governor.”

Guadagno's chief rival for the GOP nomination, Hillsborough resident and state Assemblyman Jack Ciatarelli, R-16th, spoke to the business leaders' organization in February.

Ciattarelli's state campaign headquarters are a few blocks west of Verve at 166 W. Main St.

Guadagno was sworn in as New Jersey’s first Lieutenant Governor on Jan. 19, 2010, and elected to a second term with Gov. Chris Christie in 2013. She also serves as Secretary of State.

A practicing lawyer for 32 years, she is admitted in New York and New Jersey. She began her public service career as a federal prosecutor with the Organized Crime & Racketeering Strike Force in Brooklyn before becoming an Assistant United States Attorney and an Assistant Attorney General in New Jersey. In 2007, she was elected sheriff in Monmouth County, the first woman to hold that office in New Jersey, managing a 650-member law enforcement agency.

Guadagno leads the Christie Administration's efforts to improve New Jersey's economic vitality, encourage job growth, streamlining government, and making businesses feel welcome again in New Jersey. She chairs the Red Tape Review Commission, which is an ongoing review and reform of the State’s regulatory process, and the New Jersey Military Installation Growth and Development Task Force charged with forging an effective blueprint for securing the long-term growth and viability of New Jersey's military bases and U.S. Coast Guard installations.

As the Secretary of State, Lt. Governor Guadagno is New Jersey’s chief election official, oversees promotion of the state’s $40 billion tourism industry, and administers programs related to the arts, culture, and history.

Registration is $30 and includes lunch and the business meeting. A cash bar will also be available. Participants are encouraged to register online by April 21 at http://bit.ly/SomersetELCApr2017 or by submitting a check or voucher in the name of Somerset County ELC to the Somerset County Business Partnership, 360 Grove St. Bridgewater, New Jersey 08807.

Walk-ins the day of event are welcome.
