NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- At about 7:55 this morning there was a multi-car accident on Route 22 West in North Plainfield at the entrance of Crystal Ridge Drive, blocking traffic in the right lane for almost an hour.

The Smart Car was rear ended by a Honda CRV but the Smart Car got the best of the battle. The CRV front panel was heavily damaged but, according to a police officer at the scene, some light damage to a panel that snapped right back on.

“I’d been making fun of the Smart Car,” said the officer. “But it really survived the accident well, and the CRV did not.”

North Plainfield Police responded, and Fire and EMS trucks were called to the scene.  The EMS pulled away at 8:15 a.m. with one person who suffered minor injuries according to North Plainfield Fire Chief William Eaton.
