NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- New student registration opens for North Plainfield public schools next Monday, August 18th and proceeds through Friday August 29th for students new to the district. Registration must be done in person, and with an appointment. More information is available online.
Parents or guardians registering their children need to first pick up a registration package at Watchung School, 33 Mountain Avenue in North Plainfield any day between Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments will be scheduled at the time of registration pickup.
To register a student the guardian must have an original birth certificate or passport, two documents providing residence in the borough such as a lease or utility bill, an immunization record and a full medical exam. If the potential student hasn't received their medical exam they can still be registered during August, but can't attend the school when it starts in September until the exam is completed.
Angelina Lowder and or Melissa DeCos Palma in the Assistant Superintendent's office at (908) 769-6059 are available to procide assistant ahead of picking up the package.
Children who turn four years old before October 15, 2014 are eligible for a 2.5 hour a day pre-school program. Those who turn five before that date will be placed in kindergarten, and those who turn six will be placed in first grade.
If a child is five years old on October 15, 2014 but has completed kindergarten in another district district staff will consider placement in first grade.
