BRIDGEWATER, NJ - No children were on the school bus that was involved in a serious motor vehicle crash on Washington Valley Road at 3 p.m. Thursday.

According to Bill Rose, with the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company, the accident involved a school bus and two motor vehicles at the corner of Washington Valley Road and Blossom Drive.

The driver of a white Honda, Rose said, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, while the driver of the SUV involved in the accident was taken by Northstar Medevac with more serious injuries. Both had to be extricated from their vehicles, and there were no passengers in the vehicles.

The driver of the bus was uninjured in the accident.

The Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by the Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department in the extrication. Also on scene were the Bridgewater Township Police, Green Knoll Rescue Squad and Martinsville Rescue Squad.

The Somerset County Accident Investigation Team is still on scene.

As of 5 p.m., Washington Valley Road was still closed from Brown Road to Meiners Drive for the accident investigation.
