NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The call went out and the North Plainfield community responded.

Cooper, an eight year old boy from North Plainfield, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 3. His mom posted a message that Cooper would be holding a sugar and carb free lemonade stand, coinciding with the town-wide yard sale. She said,” He donates his money to JDRF to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Hope you can stop by! “

“Cooper is an amazing young man,” Everyone needs a hero, and today, he’s ours!!”said PBA Local 85. “With so many lemonade stands, how do we pick which one to visit? The choice today was easy! Bro. Marcus Steinhauser and Sis. Sabrina Romasz had the honor to meet Cooper, and he’s one brave young man! Cooper is raising money for Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1) and as a kid living with Type 1, this is a fundraiser close to heart. Thank you for giving us a delicious glass of sugar free and carb free lemonade. For your heroic efforts, PBA Local 85 is donating $50 to Cooper’s walk for Type 1!”

They then challenged North Plainfield Professional Firefighters, Local 2958 “Think you can meet our pledge? “

“These fire fighters accepted a challenge from the local police officers, “Cooper’s mom said. “They showed up in three different trucks. They took time out of their day to make Cooper feel special and make a generous donation for type 1 diabetes research. Thank you!💙”

“Challenge accepted from North Plainfield NJ PBA Local 85. Today, our police officer friends at North Plainfield NJ PBA local 85 invited the North Plainfield Professional Firefighters, Local 2958 and 2983 to support one of North Plainfield’s own residents, Cooper, in his mission to raise money for Type 1 diabetes, a disease that he was diagnosed with at age 3. Members of A Platoon were able to enjoy the sugar free and carb free lemonade that was served. Cooper, we do believe that your generation can change the world with brave and smart kids like you. Local 2958 is proud to donate $71 to your cause. New Jersey Firefighters PFANJ”

And a local car club even drove by to show support.

“My club AudiUnitesNYC went by this 8 year old’s  lemonade stand to support research for Type one diabetes. In North Plainfield NJ,  would be great if you share the video to expand the support,” Miguel L Rosaio.

“Every year we walk in October for JDRF- the leading global organization raising funds for research to cure type 1 diabetes.,” Cooper’s Mom posted. “My son was diagnosed at 3 years old and is now 8. He requires 10-12 fingers pricks a day, 4-5 insulin injections (until recently - he now gets insulin via a pump inserted in his body) and also wears another medical device to monitor his blood sugar. Without insulin he wouldn’t be alive. Type 1 diabetes can’t be prevented- it’s an autoimmune disease and there is no cure. It’s 24/7 close monitoring. Your diet has nothing to do with it.

If you can’t stop by please consider donating - every amount helps.”
