NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – North Plainfield’s 5th Annual Summer Car Cruise will take place Monday, July 20 (rain date Tuesday, July 21). Hosted by the Car Nutz Car Club and sponsored by the Mayor’s Special Events Committee, this year’s Cruise will run along Somerset Street from Park Place to Race Street and be dedicated in memory of the late Frank Stabile.
“North Plainfield greatly supports our Club and each year we host this event as a thank you for all they do for us,” said Dan Battista, president of the Car Nutz Car Club. “One night a year, we come together for a fun event featuring music, food and great cars. It truly is a great local event for everybody.”
Admission to the Cruise is free to attendees and participants. There is no entry fee and one does not have to be a resident or member of a car club to participate. Also, the event is open to antique and classic vehicles of any class. Trophies, including Mayor’s Choice, People’s Choice and Car Nutz President’s Choice, will be awarded and there will also be a DJ will be on hand playing oldies and food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage & peppers, fresh-squeezed lemonade and other beverages, will be available for purchase.
Previous Cruises have attracted over 1,000 people and featured upwards of 50 vehicles. “This is a great, laid back community event,” said Mayor Michael Giordano. “Families and residents are encouraged to come down, meet their neighbors and socialize while checking out some really nice classic and antique vehicles.”
