Austin Soares scored on a seven-yard run on South River’s first possession to take the early lead but the North Plainfield Football Canucks roared back to defeat the South River Rams on Friday, 35-14, and remain unbeaten. The Canucks are off to their best start since 2010, outscoring opponents 197-64.
After a slow start where North Plainfield fumbled a snap, was intercepted, lost a fumble and had a field goal blocked, the Canucks started to roll.
Khan-Yae Stevens returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and threw for another to Jihad Dudley, and Keiahn Grenald ran for two touchdowns and threw a 59-yard pass for a TD to Stevens. Will Grabko kicked the PATs for North Plainfield.
