SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - Raritan Valley Community College's (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, December 10, at 8 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg Campus.

The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Parker. The group also will perform music from the great American songbook featuring George Gershwin's "Summertime." In addition, the band will play a jazz version of the Nora Jones hit song "Don't Know Why." The concert also will feature a special event: the premiere of a composition by a student member of the band, Maxwell Mellies.
